Job Title: Senior Accounting Analyst

Job description:
The position is responsible for providing financial analysis, preparing financial reports, and executing special projects. Ensures policies and records are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and that processes are Sarbanes Oxley compliant. Assists with managing the company accounting processes and procedures for the North American Offices.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Develops accounting policies and procedures that are compliant with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Maintains changes to policies, while communicating and providing guidance on relative policies to appropriate staff. Ensures control procedures are created and/or edited to match new/revised accounting policy.

2. Assists with the development and administration of the accounting systems, practices, controls and procedures which conform to GAAP and related operating costs, budgets and profitability. Reviews and documents processes and procedures quarterly to ensure compliance.

3. Ensures a reporting structure is in place that is Sarbanes Oxley compliant and that meets all statutory internal and external requirements. Assists with Sarbanes Oxley quarterly compliance reviews and leads implementation of process changes to ensure compliance is maintained.

4. Serves as lead on internal peer reviews to ensure audit readiness.

5. Reviews the company’s balance sheet position, specifically as it relates to unbilled AR and deferred revenue.

6. Ensures correct and accurate accounting classification of expenditures and documents to include, but not limited to participation in account reconciliation.

7. Ensures reporting activities exceed the company’s requirement to expedite critical decisions for the business.

8. Assists and serves as backup to corporate consolidation and external reporting function by participating in external audits and assisting in the preparation of the Company’s external reporting requirements.

9. Executes special projects to include, but may not be limited to analyzing historical trends; developing procedures to mitigate audit weakness; implementing/testing activities surrounding financial system; etc.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Minimal travel may be required (up to 25%).
Skills: Requires a BA/BS degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent related experience plus a minimum of four (4) years of progressive financial experience, preferably within a CRO or pharmaceutical environment. CPA license preferred. SEC reporting a plus. Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and voicemail is required. Proficiency with accounting software packages are necessary and Oracle Finance experience preferred. SOX experience preferred and solid understanding of GAAP required. Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment is essential. Requires presentation, documentation, leadership and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented approach.
